COMIC-CON [Con News]: Contract Extends Stay in San Diego.
It’s official: Comic-Con is staying in San Diego past 2018. Contract negotiations have been going on for months between San Diego and the organizers of the world’s most famous comic book convention. It was announced this morning by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Comic-Con International that the convention is going to remain through 2021. 2019 will mark 50 years of Comic-Con in San Diego. Comic-Con infuses $135 million into San Diego’s economy each year.
“Today is a day of celebration. Comic-Con and all of us are incredibly happy at this agreement, and I have to tell you again, personally, the people here are instrumental in keeping us in San Diego for the next three years,” Comic-Con International’s David Glanzer said.
Comic-Con runs from July 20-23, with July 19 being preview night.
