E3 ’14 [Full Parish Preview]: We Bringin’ Down Tha House!
“THE DEACON” DAVE STORY @thedeacon2814
1.) Batman: Arkham Knight – Looking forward to finally driving the Batmobile. Also, hoping to step into more characters for story-based gameplay, not just challenges; you know, the way we got a small Robin episode as DLC in Arkham City. I’d love to see more Robin, some Nightwing, and maybe a flashback outing as Batgirl.
2.) Mortal Kombat X – My favorite fighting game got a reboot in 2011 and I’m looking forward to seeing how they follow that up on next-gen. I love the franchise storyline and hope the new game gets an awesome story mode akin to Injustice and the last MK outing.
3.) Assassin’s Creed: Unity – The number one reason I’ll be purchasing a next-gen console that I’ve held off on thus far. I still don’t know which one I want though: Assassin’s Creed has my favorite story of any video game I’ve ever played… I even enjoy the sci-fi Matrix element to a degree. From the Crusades, to the Renaissance, to Colonial America, to being a pirate in the west indies, I’ve enjoyed every minute and look forward to what comes next. My only hope is that they return to a more platforming based game with less focus on combat… I want the combat system from 3 and Black Flag with less of a focus on it and more platforming like in 2 and Brotherhood. Although I’m still waiting for an entry set in feudal Japan, the French Revolution has a lot of great adventuring and stabbing opportunities!
“THE APOSTLE” LANCE PAUL @lance_paul
1.) Batman: Arkham Knight – Who in their right geek-loving mind wouldn’t have this game as their #1? Rocksteady is back and all signs point to a game that will make Arkham Origins look like a DLC pack! Who hasn’t caught the trailer yet? I’ll be honest, this is the first game that makes me want a Xbox One.
2.) Beyond Good & Evil 2 – Who doesn’t love the cult classic BGE 1 from 2004, and if you say, “But Traveling Nerd Apostle, what tom foolery are you talking about?” Well, kids, I don’t have enough space nor big enough Nintendo Glove to smack you silly! Its predecessor was a dud at the registers, but grew a nipple twister of a cult following. If not for this bad girl, all you AC-lovin’ fanboys would still be playing Prince of Persia — wanting more.
3.) Untitled Lara Croft Game – Little is known about this soon-to-be-named successor to the bouncy-boobed Lara legacy, but after schooling the last one, there’s no doubt this I’d-raid-your-tomb-Lara-fan is all over it! Um, sorry.
“DEACON E” ESKO @eskobts
1.) The Evil Within - Excited to experience a fresh new story from the home of Resident Evil. The graphics look perfectly gritty and the gameplay they released looks legitimately scary. I look forward to playing late at night, in the dark. Too afraid to walk into the next room, but too terrified to turn off the game. I love that.
2.) Destiny – Looks like exactly what I’ve been asking for for years. A new story of new people in the galaxy. Bungie has heard my prayers and given us Destiny. Visually amazing, music by Paul McCartney, new story, new weapons. Destiny seems to offers a whole new galaxy within the same Halo universe.
3.) The Crew – Sounds brand new all around. I’ve never seen or heard of a game like it before. It has fast cars and car chases. That’s an automatic win. Add that to the HUGE map and missions that involve infiltrating criminal organizations. I’m sold.
